The SDGs are goals that represent and emphasize the importance of the livelihood of all people. As we remember from the United Nations dictum, the 2030 agenda is to leave no one behind. Goals one, two, three, four and five can be combined into the category for people. We can actually categorize the 17 goals into the five Ps. The former Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon has already mentioned that the five Ps are essential in discussing and explaining the 2030 Agenda for SD. Based on these characteristics, we will further examine how the 17 goals were categorized and how we can better assess the 17 goals. The key characteristics of the 2030 agenda can be summarized as comprehensive in its scope, emphasizing the interrelationship with requirement for inclusion and environmental sustainability. During the last lecture session, we have analyzed the key characteristics of the 2030 agenda for the sustainable development. Following an introductory module on the main concepts of Agenda 2030 and the SDGs, successive modules will provide the foundation behind the SDGs for people, prosperity and planet, peace and partnership. Structured around the five pillars of Agenda 2030 – people, prosperity, planet, peace and justice, and partnership, students will learn that these pillars are interconnected and need to be integrated in practical policy-making and operational activities for development, in both developed and developing country settings. The course is designed for people that want to learn about the latest development agenda the international community agreed to achieve by 2030.
